What is Tool Team?

You are a ragtag team of TOOL USERS, sent hopping through PARALLEL DIMENSIONS at the behest of a MYSTERIOUS CLIENT.

You each possess a stolen high-tech DIGIGLOVE capable of STORING 3-D scans to REPLICATE COPIES of objects.

Your goal is to SCAN and therefore ACQUIRE a CERTAIN ITEM and ESCAPE before you are APPREHENDED by the WORMHOLE POLICE, devoured by MIMICS, or thoroughly WHAMMIED by the dimensional INSTABILITY caused by your own escapades.

What’s all this scanning and printing for?

Carrying excessive equipment through wormholes is impossible, and wormholers risk trans-dimensional sickness if they spend too much time directly interacting with matter from a world other than their own.

The only solution is to follow arcane inventory management rules to print single-use copies of items found in the field. Obviously.

Did you say Wormhole Police?

Yes. They’re an officious lot, and they know you’re powerless without your digiglove. They’ll impose their will on you by making their mark on your inventory first - if they catch you.

Wait did you say Mimics?

Also yes. They creep in from the space between worlds when you tear open your wormholes, and they can’t wait to bite you when you inadvertently try to scan them.

Why are we doing this heist in the first place?

You are a tool.

Tool Team is a tabletop roleplaying game for 2-5 players. It was based on a Design Dream from the System Shop podcast, and first published as part of the New Year, Old Ideas game jam.
